The Plant Health Care Program

Rivermoore Lawn Care’s plant health care program is completed in seven rounds throughout the year. Our goal is to provide your plants with needed nutrients while guarding them against disease and insect pests using the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) system.

First-round – Your plants will receive an application of horticultural oil. This will smother eggs and any adults who managed to burrow into your plants for the winter.

Second through Sixth rounds – Your trees and ornamental shrubs will receive micronutrients to complement the water and natural nutrition the soil provides for maximum health. We use the technique of Integrated Pest Management to control the number of insects to an acceptable level, where they will not be a threat to your plant life.

Seventh round – Another treatment of horticultural oil is provided to prevent insects from burrowing inside for the next winter, or laying their eggs.

Core Aeration

Most people are not aware of the benefits of lawn aeration, yet it is one of the most important treatments to maintain a healthy lawn. Aeration helps reduce soil compaction and keeps your soil in the best shape possible.

Rivermoore Lawn Care Core Aeration – We offer core aeration in Buford and surrounding cities.

Even with the best care available, lawns can thin out and lose color due to excessive thatch build up, hard/compacted soils, periods of high temperatures, high humidity and/or drought. Aeration is recognized by turf experts, such as golf course superintendents, as the best thing to do to control thatch, reduce soil compaction, fill in bare spots and revitalize growth.

The best time to have your lawn core aerated is after the threat of frost. This is usually after the second week of April and continues until the end of July.

Over-seeding

Fall Aeration/Seeding-the two-step process guaranteed to improve your lawn

Rivermoore Lawn Care’s core aeration treatment removes cores of thatch and soil to allow air, moisture and fertilizer to penetrate down to the root zone. The cores brought to the surface contain very important microorganisms, which help break down of the woody thatch tissue. This allows the roots of existing grass plants to spread out and grow deeper, creating a healthier, thicker lawn.

Over-seeding fescue seed in the fall, will fill-in bare or thin spots and help build a thicker lawn faster. The turf type tall fescue seed quickly takes root in the fresh core aerated lawn and provides new life to your already established grass.

Over-watering

Avoid Overwatering. Your lawn doesn’t need as much water in fall as it did in summer. When you overwater, the root system can’t soak it up all, leading to excess water and unabsorbed moisture on the surface. It gives birth to pests of all kinds.
